  Sir Edwin Henry LANDSEER was born in London 7th March 1802. He was the youngest son of John Landseer ARA. A boy prodigy - 9 of his drawings executed when he was only 5 years old are in the South Kensington Museum. Edwin became the most celebrated of Victorian England's animal painters.

His later years were clouded by periods of depression - he died in London in 1873. He was buried in St. Paul's Cathedral.
Collections of his work can be found in the British Library, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
